David's Story

Student Success Stories - Member of the National Honor Society

David Nadeau: Member of the National Honor Society

by Nancy Todd, Reading Recovery Teacher Leader, Caribou School Department, Caribou, Maine

David Nadeau became hooked on reading at the Hilltop Elementary School, a small rural school perched at the top of Maine just 12 miles from the Canadian border. I was his Reading Recovery teacher and was in my field year as a teacher leader. Thinking back I believe it was those Rigby dinosaur books. He just loved them and couldn't wait for the next one.

The dinosaur books shifted David from a quiet passive learner into the avid reader and writer he is today. David is currently a senior at Caribou High School. He is in the National Honor Society, was chosen for student of the month, and has been recognized as an outstanding artist. At this time he is visiting colleges where he plans to pursue a double major in art and psychology.
