Ashley's Story

Full of Enthusiasm: Ashley's Story

When she was profiled in the fall of 2003, Ashley Ziegler was an enthusiastic third-grade student at Chapelfield Elementary School in Gahanna-Jefferson Schools in Ohio.

After participating in extended day kindergarten, Ashley was identified as still needing the safety net experience of Reading Recovery in first grade.  A first-round student, Ashley started her program reading at Level B and discontinued 20 weeks later at Level 12. As a third grader she still manifested the same exuberance for learning, and her teacher looked for even better things to come for her in the future.
